AMBLYOPIA - LAZY EYE "HOW I OVERCAME IT"
One of the accepted medical treatments for lazy eye is to cover a child's good eye with an eye patch on the theory that by covering the child's good eye with an eye patch will force the lazy eye to work harder therefore hopefully forcing his or her
lazy
eye to see. This is a terrible thing to do to a child. This eye patch treatment borders on child abuse in the worst way.
For example most children who have lazy eye have vision of 20/200 or more in their lazy eye. Vision of 20/200 in a child's lazy eye would make that child legally blind in that lazy eye. You wouldn't send a blind man to go out and play in the traffic
so why would you cover a child's good eye with an eye patch (which would make him or her, legally blind) and expect this blind child to go out and play. In essence you are sending a blind child out where he could be hit by a car or a train or worse.
What is amblyopia?
Other Names: "Lazy eye"
How common is amblyopia?
Amblyopia is the most common cause of decreased vision in children. The condition affects approximately 2 or 3 out of every 100 children. It is estimated that as many as three percent of children in the U.S. have some degree of vision impairment due to
amblyopia. Unless it is successfully treated in early childhood, amblyopia usually persists into adulthood, and is the most common cause of monocular (one eye) visual impairment among children and young and middle-aged adults.
What causes amblyopia?
Amblyopia may be caused by any condition that affects normal visual development or use of the eyes. Amblyopia can be caused by strabismus, an imbalance in the positioning of the two eyes. Strabismus can cause the eyes to cross in (esotropia) or turn out
(exotropia). Sometimes amblyopia is caused when one eye is more nearsighted, farsighted, or astigmatic than the other eye. Occasionally, amblyopia is caused by other eye conditions such as cataract.
I was born with amblyopia. I have never met anybody in my life who had amblyopia. It seemed like I was the only one in the world with this problem. I found out many years later that the statistics say that about four percent of children are born
with lazy eye (amblyopia).
I did not suffer any visual symptoms from this condition until I was approximately twenty-five years old. When I reached that age I started to gradually see double. It became worse and worse as time went on. My amblyopic eye went further and
further out of alignment. This caused the vision in my lazy eye to shift further and further to the left. This caused severe eyestrain for many, many years. It was terrible. It caused me great discomfort and pain. I discovered that my eyes
would no longer work together as they used to when I was younger.
Through the years while I was suffering from this condition I went to many doctors and they all told me there wasn't anything that could be done with my visual problem. They said it should have been corrected with an eye patch when I was a child. I
also went to eye surgeons to try and find relief from the discomfort and pain. I wanted to see if surgery would correct the weak eye muscles in my amblyopic eye to take the strain off of my good eye. They told me that surgery wouldn't help my
double vision at all.
I even had eyeglasses made with a prism installed in one of the lenses. The prism helped a little. But after a while the lazy eye would shift further and further outward making my double vision worse. It seemed to be a constant battle to see
which eye would be the dominant eye. Some times my amblyopic eye would be strong and then sometimes my good eye would be strong. It was perplexing to me what was going on. I did not understand what was happening.
Anyway to make a long story short I discovered how to make my eyes work together. I now understand why my eyes would not work together, as I grew older.
By trial and error I finally discovered, through God's help the solution to my affliction. I found that making a simple correction solved my problem. This simple correction did not make my amplyopic eye see again but it did make my two eyes work
together like they did when I was younger.
I am legally blind in my amblyopic eye and have 20/200 vision. Most people, who have amblyopia, as far as I know, are legally blind in their lazy eye. They usually have vision in that eye of 20/200 or worse.
After I had found the answers to my problems and corrected my eyesight through this simple solution I went and told a doctor how this simple correction made my eyes now work together as they did when I was a child. I told him that I no longer had pain
or double vision. After telling him the story he was amazed and suggested that I write it all down and publish it on the Internet.
Years have now passed and I had forgotten what the doctor had told me about sharing what I had learned with others who might be suffering from the same affliction that I had. But just like a woman who is in labor and brings forth the child she forgets
the pain that she suffered after the child is born. It appears to be the same with me. I had forgotten my suffering and forgot that there may be others who may now be suffering from what I suffered from for many y ears. As I have said earlier I
had never met anyone who had suffered with amblyopia so I just put it out of my mind until recently.
Recently while surfing the Internet I typed in the word "amblyopia" into the Google search engine and much to my surprise I came across much information about amblyopia. I found out that about four percent of the children born in the world are born
with amblyopia.
This shocked me. I had forgotten how much I had suffered from this condition because I now have no pain or discomfort and now see very well and do not have the annoying double vision, nor the pain, nor the stress, nor the bloodshot eyes. I
remembered what that doctor said many years ago when he told me I should share what I had discovered and publish it on the Internet so that others who suffer from this condition can get relief.
I am now making this book available to those of you who suffer from amblyopia. If you suffer from these symptoms this book is for you. This is not a cure but I believe it will relieve your symptoms. I am directing this ebook to the adults who
have amblyopia and suffer from it. I don't know if it will help children or not because children who have amblyopia usually do not have symptoms.

It took me about 25 years to figure out what was happening to my vision because of amblyopia. During this time of intense affliction I learned how amblyopia affected me and how it worked. I also discovered by trial and error how to
correct it and live symptom free.
This ebook is written to help all those who suffer from amblyopia (lazy eye). I hope this information will relieve your suffering if you suffer from amblyopia. This information is not a cure for amblyopia but hopefully will give the
sufferer relief from the pain and suffering caused by amblyopia.

It should be remembered, that amblyopia causes more visual loss in the under 40 group than all the injuries, and diseases combined in this age group.
If you know any one who suffers from amblyopia, you would be doing him or her a favor by telling them about this book. If you have a child or know of a child who has amblyopia you might want to read this book to prepare yourself for some of
the problems he or she will have if they develop acute amblyopia.
The brain and the eye work together to produce vision. Light enters the eye and is changed into nerve signals that travel along the optic nerve to the brain. Amblyopia is the medical term used when the vision in one of the eyes is reduced
because the eye and the brain are not working together properly. The eye itself looks normal, but it is not being used normally because the brain is favoring the other eye. This condition is also sometimes called lazy eye.
I am an adult who has suffered from amblyopia for many years. My symptoms from amblyopia caused me to have double vision, and an eye that would not focus on anything. This caused me much pain in the eye muscles of both my eyes. These
symptoms caused bloodshot eyes from the severe eyestrain that I was suffering from trying to make my two eyes work together like they used to. This amblyopic condition caused me almost unbearable stress and depression.
